The Fontanone Barman, located near the village of Lischiazze / Liščaca in Val Resia at the foot of the Musi mountain range, is a spectacular karst spring. Water gushes from the rocks, forming a scenic waterfall that feeds the Barman stream, which eventually flows into the Resia stream, contributing to the valley’s ecosystem.
Surrounded by lush vegetation and nestled among the peaks of the Julian Prealps, the Fontanone is accessible via a trail winding through a beech forest, offering visitors an immersive nature experience.
Thanks to its pure waters and surrounding landscape, the Fontanone Barman is one of the most striking natural sites in Val Resia.
In the past century, the waters of the Barman stream powered a hydroelectric plant of the same name. Although now abandoned, the old structure still displays, in its simplicity, some elements of Liberty (Art Nouveau) architecture.
